Precision CNC machined billet aluminum adapter to facilitate installation of a PAR46 (5.75" dia) sealed beam lamp into a PAR64 (8" dia) lamp housing. Adapter is a direct form/fit replacement for all PAR64 sealed beam bulbs. Compatible with Grimes retractable landing lights and also fixed lamp housings.
Vintage aircraft with PAR64 landing lights have largely been excluded from upgrading to LED due to the unreasonable cost of a true PAR64 LED sealed beam lamp. At prices nearing $2,000 for LED PAR64 lamps, the economics simply do not work. The reality is that an LED PAR46 is the same (or more) light output than the antiquated 450/600 watt PAR64 incandescent sealed beams. So the PAR64/46 adapter mated to the latest LED PAR46 is, in virtually all respects, an upgrade. A fraction of the cost, a fraction of the power draw, will last thousands of hours in service, and enables pilots to use their landing lights in all phases of flight (day/night) to enhance their visibility and ultimately reduce risk of accidents and incidents.
Adapter is compatible with our FUSION 46LR - PAR46 LED Landing Light, but the adapter is also compatible with all other manufactures PAR46 lamps; whether LED or incandescent/halogen.
Our adapter undergoes post-machining processing including a media blasting process that yields an aesthetically pleasing satin finish. This also reduces potential for adverse glare or halation that could occur with a machine finish. For surface durability, the final process is a Type II clear anodizing that protects from corrosion and protects the surface from scratches.
